On Tuesday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, and Aleksandar Vucic, the President of Serbia, held talks in Athens which both Presidents described as “open” and “good.”

At the United Nations and other global platforms, Serbia has constantly denounced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine but has not imposed sanctions on Russia.

Belgrade also upholds trade and military cooperation with Kyiv, while aiming to join the European Union.

An open, honest, and fruitful meeting with the President of Serbia @AVucic.

Good conversation on respect for the UN Charter and the inviolability of borders.

On our nations’ shared future in the common European home.

In April, Pentagon leaked documents showing that Serbia had supplied weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Vucic denied it and said Belgrade had never sold arms to Kyiv or Moscow but it could reach in battlefied through third countries.

Good talk on concern for the UN Charter and the inviolability of borders…On our nations’ shared future in the common European home, Zelenskyy said.

Vucic said that both nations have embarked on developments in Ukraine and Kosovo and I have highlighted once again that Serbia appreciates the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Both Presidents, who were in Athens as Greece hosts a meeting of Balkan leaders, gave words of support for each other’s nations’ bids to join the EU.
