On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, said that Ukraine would only begin peace talks when it runs out of resources and would use any ceasefire acquired to restock its weapons cache from supplies by its Western backers.
According to state news agency TASS, Russian Putin asserted that the Ukrainian counterattack failed to acquire outcomes and that Kyiv has lost 71,500 personnel since the launch of the counterattack. Ukraine lost almost 18,000 armored vehicles of different categories with 543 tanks.
At an economic forum, Putin said, “Ukraine is conducting a so-called counter-offensive. There are no outcomes, of course. Now we won’t say – failure, not failure, no results, there are losses. Big ones. Since the start of this counterattack, there have been 71.5 thousand personnel losses,”
Ukrainians wanted to “bite off as much as possible” in terms of region and are being forced to do so by their Western supporters, Putin said.
The Russian president added, “And then, when all resources – human resources, equipment, ammunition – are close to zero, achieve a stop in hostilities, saying ‘well, we have been saying for a long time that we want negotiations’ and they begin these negotiations to refill their resources and restore the battle effectiveness of armed force,” he added.
The Russian President said many groups, to end the battle, questioned him if Russia was ready to stop battling; however, he highlighted that Moscow could not quit opposing as long as it encountered the Ukrainian counterattack.
He highlighted that for Russia to participate in any peace talks, Kyiv had to cancel its prohibition on any discussions with Moscow.
