On Wednesday, Ukrainian armed forces said that they had destroyed 17 out of 24 Russian drones launched overnight, while an oil refinery was struck, according to a regional governor.

The General Staff said in a daily update that during the night, Russia “attacked Ukraine with 24 kamikaze drones of the Shahed-136/131 type, 17 of which were eliminated by Ukrainian air defense.

It added that details concerning the effects of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks were still being clarified.

According to the regional governor Dmytro Lunin in the central Poltava region, an oil refinery was hit.

Lunin said on Telegram that tonight the Russians frequently attacked the Poltava region. Our anti-aircraft defense operated well against enemy anti-aircraft missiles, he added.

“Unfortunately, there is a crash at the oil refinery in Kremenchuk. A fire began. All relevant services are on-site. The work of the plant is temporarily stopped.”

Sergiy Lysak, governor of the east-central Dnipropetrovsk region, said that the Nikopol district had come under raid for a second straight night, with Russian forces shooting at Nikopol city and three other communities.

With no harm, according to initial reports, he said that five personal houses, two cars, and power lines were harmed.

The Ukrainian armed forces “fired down two opponent UAVs over the area, turning them into scrap metal,” he said.

The General Staff update said that on Tuesday, Moscow had attacked Kyiv with 31 Iranian-made Shahed drones, of which 28 were destroyed.
