The prolonged Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike seems to be drawing to a close, and late-night talk shows are poised to return with scheduled air dates.

Beginning on Monday, October 2, fans can anticipate the return of four prominent network talk shows: “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC, “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on CBS, “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on NBC, and “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” also on NBC.

Moreover, HBO’s popular “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” will reclaim its customary Sunday night slot starting October 1.

This welcome news came as the five hosts collaborated to announce their shows’ return via their respective Instagram accounts. The hosts had previously united to launch the “Strike Force Five” podcast, a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting their furloughed staff members.

Additionally, it was revealed that HBO’s “Real Time With Bill Maher” is set to resume this Friday, as shared on the X platform (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

In a separate development, Comedy Central disclosed plans for “The Daily Show” to make its comeback on October 16, with guest hosts taking the reins for the remainder of the year. The announcement of a permanent host is slated for 2024.

The decision to conclude the strike was made by the leadership of the Writers Guild of America after reaching a preliminary agreement with media corporations. However, the ultimate verdict on the agreement rests with the entire membership, who will cast their votes in early October.
