Jordon Turpin, who is one of the “House of Horrors” survivors, met Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel during the season 18 finale of American’s Got Talent.
Turpin shared photos on Instagram of the event on Thursday morning, including photos with the two judges. She thanked Mandel for inviting her to see Adrian Stoica and his dog Hurricane crowned the new winners of AGT.
Turpin wrote, “It was so nice meeting @howiemandel he was very kind to me and all his fans at the show:) Heidi was beautiful and sweet. The show was amazing! Everyone was so talented.”
She continued, “Thank you @howiemandel for having me as your guest. Thank you @asapashleeyy for doing my hair I loved it and everyone else did too.”
Jennifer Turpin, a sister of Jordan, commented on the post, “OMG! This sooooooooo COOL!!!”
Turpin also posted more photos showing up her meeting with the comedian and model. In the new Instagram photos, Turpin wore a distressed blue coat quilted in the shape of stars, with black jeans, a pair of black booties, and a baby pink quilted clutch.
In 2018, at the time of their rescue, the Turpin siblings were in age from 2 to 29 years old. The 13 children survived severe abuse at the hands of their parents, David and Louise Turpin in their Perris, California home until they were rescued.
In 2019, Turpin’s parents pleaded guilty to 14 felony counts of abuse, including brutality to an adult dependent, child cruelty, torture, and false imprisonment, and were then convicted to 25 years to life in jail.
In 2018, Turpin called 911 and told the dispatcher that she had run away from home due to her abusive parents. “They hit us. They like to throw us across the room. They pull out our hair. They yank out our hair. My two little sisters right now are chained up,” Turpin was heard speaking to the 911 dispatcher. The emergency call was then conducted to a police probe into the Turpin family.
After David and Louise were sentenced, Turpin and five of her siblings, identified as Jane and John Do, were then put in a harsh foster home.
The Turpin siblings alleged that the foster family had a prior history of harming children that the foster organizations were knowledgeable of, and failed to act against them even after the children requested help.
The foster parents, Marcelino and Rosa Olguin, and their adult daughter Lennys Olguin, were then captured and charged with considerable counts of child abuse, and all three have pleaded not guilty.
Since Turpin has exited both the “House of Horrors” and the Olguin home, she has graduated from high school after never stepping into a school during her childhood. Further, Turpin told Good Morning America in 2021 that she wished to become a motivational speaker and shift her difficulties “into something positive.”
Turpin, who also built an audience on TikTok and has over 1.3 million followers, said in July 2022, “After everything that happened, and after escaping, I’m so protective over each one. They always know they have me.”
