The trial revolves around accusations of fraudulently inflating Donald Trump’s fortune by as much as $2.2 billion since 2011 and overvaluing several properties, including the Palm Beach resort where the former president currently resides. The lawsuit seeks a hefty $250 million fine and a ban on Trump conducting business in New York.
Ivanka, the last of the Trump family to testify, claimed ignorance regarding the valuations in her father’s financial statements, stating, “Those weren’t things that I was privy to,” according to The New York Times. However, Attorney General James remains skeptical, emphasizing that Ivanka’s demeanor during the testimony raises questions about its credibility.
Describing Ivanka as cordial, disciplined, and controlled in the courtroom, James acknowledged the former first daughter’s demeanor but pointed out that her testimony poses credibility questions that will be scrutinized in the findings of fact.
