Jonathan Majors, known for his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has faced another setback as he is dropped from the Dennis Rodman biopic, tentatively titled “48 Hours in Vegas.” The decision comes in the wake of Majors’ guilty verdict on charges of assault and harassment last month, as reported by CNN.
Initially cast over a year ago, Majors was set to play the iconic NBA player during his notorious 1998 trip to Las Vegas, a focal point of the biopic’s storyline. Despite the actor’s legal representatives not responding to requests for comment, the film’s production underwent changes, with Lionsgate no longer involved. Producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood have taken over, and the movie has been released back to them, as per Deadline. Additionally, Rodman serves as an executive producer, according to Entertainment Weekly.
In December, Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment following an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in New York in March. While Majors’ defense attorney, Priya Chaudhry, expressed gratitude for the jury not believing Jabbari’s story, she conveyed disappointment in the verdict. Chaudhry affirmed that Majors maintains faith in the legal process and looks forward to clearing his name.
Marvel Studios severed ties with Majors after his guilty verdict, impacting his participation in various upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including a fifth Avengers movie. The actor, recognized for his portrayal of Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and appearances in the Disney+ series Loki, recently spoke out in an interview with Good Morning America. Majors shared his shock and fear at the verdict, emphasizing the importance of responsibility and telling his side of the story.
Jonathan Majors is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on February 6, potentially facing up to a year in jail.
