Amidst speculations and tight-lipped responses from Warner Bros., director Denis Villeneuve has confidently affirmed that the anticipated Dune trilogy might see its conclusion with the third installment, “Dune Messiah,” marking his final contribution to the captivating sci-fi franchise.

In an exclusive interview with Time Magazine, the award-winning filmmaker declared, “‘Dune Messiah’ should be the last ‘Dune’ movie for me.” While maintaining an air of mystery around the potential trilogy, Denis shared insights into the ongoing progress of the script for “Dune Messiah.” He mentioned, “The screenplay is almost finished, but it’s not quite there. It will take a little time… There’s a dream of making a third movie, and, to me, it would make absolute sense.”

The announcement adds a layer of anticipation for fans eager to see the continuation of the Dune saga. Denis Villeneuve, known for his meticulous approach to storytelling and visuals, has been a driving force behind the success of the franchise’s cinematic revival.

Zendaya, who portrayed the character Chani in the first installment, expressed her enthusiasm for a potential return to the Dune universe. Speaking to Fandango, she stated, “Would we be down? I mean, of course. Any time Denis calls, it’s a yes from me. I’m excited to see what happens. I started [reading] ‘Messiah,’ and I was like, ‘Woah, I’m only shooting the first movie. Let me just go back to the first one.’ It’s so much to take in, but there’s no better hands with better care and love for it than Denis,” she added.

As fans eagerly await the continuation of the Dune saga, the confirmation of Denis Villeneuve’s potential involvement in a third installment adds a significant layer of excitement. The acclaimed director’s commitment to delivering a compelling narrative and the stellar cast’s enthusiasm promise an enthralling cinematic journey for audiences.

The much-anticipated “Dune: Part Two” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 1, promising to captivate audiences with its immersive storytelling and visually stunning portrayal of Frank Herbert’s iconic science fiction universe.
