In a recent interview, Zayn Malik delved into his journey of personal growth and how it has shaped his perspective on love and relationships.
The 31-year-old musician candidly discussed feeling like a ‘different’ person as he has evolved over the years. Despite high-profile relationships with Gigi Hadid and Perrie Edwards, Malik revealed that he has never experienced true love.
Speaking to NYLON magazine, Malik shared insights into his past engagement to Perrie Edwards, a former member of Little Mix. He admitted to feeling naive during that period of his life, saying, “From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship. I was engaged and [planned to get] married and I didn’t know anything about anything at that point. I thought I did, because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know s**t.”
After his breakup with Edwards in 2015, Malik entered into a relationship with model Gigi Hadid. Their journey together included the birth of their daughter in 2020 but ultimately ended in separation in 2021 after a series of on-off phases.
Reflecting on his time with Hadid, Malik admitted that he didn’t dedicate enough time to self-discovery during those years. He confessed, “From 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a kid, and I didn’t really take much time to get to know myself.”
Now, as he embraces single life, Malik expressed contentment with this newfound phase. He stated, “I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life.”
Malik’s introspective comments offer a glimpse into his personal journey, highlighting the complexities of love, self-discovery, and growth in the spotlight of fame.
