On Tuesday night, Matty Healy and model Gabbriette Butchel appeared to hard-launch their engagement at a Charli XCX concert in New York City — two months after she seemingly accused him of love-bombing her with the promise of marriage and children.
The two have been dating since September of last year, and it is thought they first met through their mutual friend Charli.
While at the concert, Gabbriette shared a photo of her left hand on somebody’s butt, with a black stone ring that perfectly matches her gothic aesthetic front and center on that finger.
In case there was any doubt, Gabbriette added the caption: “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT” before tagging Matty’s Instagram account.
Seemingly confirming his happy news, Matty reposted the photo to his own Instagram story, and Gabbriette followed up with a mirror selfie showing off the ring again.
Gabbriette has been wearing this particular piece of jewelry on her left ring finger in photos since June 1 but has not acknowledged it as an engagement ring until now.
Matty seemingly paid close attention to his partner’s style before choosing the ring, which is similar — but not the same — to one that she has worn on other fingers in the past.
The engagement news comes just over a year after Matty’s highly publicized and seriously messy fling with popstar Taylor Swift abruptly ended.
