Hollywood stars Matt Damon and late Heath Ledger were two of the most promising young actors who sprung out in the 90s.
The pair were driven by their determination to contribute to filmmaking and prove themselves as capable actors. Both stars were not in for the fame and were creatively bright individuals who wanted their voices heard in Hollywood.
The two actors became good friends and starred in the 2005 fantasy film The Brothers Grimm. Ledger’s creativity had a big influence on Damon and the two actors share a heartwarming connection through a similar tattoo.
The story behind the tattoo and Damon’s explanation behind it pretty much sums up their special bond.
Heath Ledger‘s highly creative and dedicated spirit influenced many people in Hollywood, especially people who worked -with him in his films.
The late actor was known for his brilliant ideas and artistic contribution to his craft and one of his co-stars that he left a big impact on was Jason Bourne star Matt Damon.
The two stars worked in The Brothers Grimm and got to know each other very well. Ledger had tattoos on his body at the time and had a particular tattoo artist that he went to.
When Damon and his wife decided to get their names tattooed on each other in 2013, the actor went to the same tattoo artist to get it done.
Additionally, he wanted to get another tattoo as a reminder of his friendship and connection with Ledger. Thus, Damon and his wife got a particular special tattoo that Ledger had back in the day.
The Bourne Identity star likened the tattoo to a guardian angel that looked over the names of the people tattooed on the couple’s arms. He told GQ; “There is a friend of ours who did all of Heath Ledger’s tattoos and I told him if I ever got a tattoo, he was my first phone call…just wanted to get something that Heath had, that’s the one I want. So we both have that. It’s like a little creative little blessing. It’s like an angel that looks over all these names that are on the arm”
It is touching to see how Damon wanted to have something to remember Ledger and getting a tattoo that was particularly designed by The Dark Knight actor was a great choice. While Ledger sadly is not around anymore, the two will forever have a deeper and emotional connection through their matching tattoos.
