The final match in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament is set for the WWE Night of Champions. On the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown, the blue brand held their side of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. RAW determined its winner on the May 8 episode of WWE RAW, where Seth Rollins emerged victorious and advanced to the finals at WWE Night of Champions.
Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown kicked off with a Triple Threat match where WWE Hall of Famers Edge and Rey Mysterio clashed with AJ Styles. The three fan-favorites battled it out and threw everything they had at each other. Mysterio went for the 619 on multiple occasions, but he came up empty. In the end, Styles took Mysterio out and hit Edge with the Phenomenal Forearm for the win to punch his ticket to the next round.
In the second Triple Threat match, WWE United States Champion Austin Theory faced Sheamus and Bobby Lashley. After a hard-fought match, Lashley, who had been busted open during the bout, clinched the win by pinning Theory.
Lashley then faced AJ Styles in the main event. The former world champions waged war in a competitive match that left fans on the edge of their seats. In the end, Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm on Lashley to move on to the tournament finals.
At WWE Night of Champions, Rollins will face Styles in a match to determine the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The post-WWE World Heavyweight Title Match Set For WWE Night Of Champions appeared first on Wrestlezone.
