After the blockbuster success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds has addressed the possibility of a fourth Deadpool installment. While the actor didn’t rule it out, his comments suggest fans might be waiting a while before the Merc with a Mouth returns to the big screen.
“Oh, now, bite your tongue,” Reynolds joked during an interview with ExtraTV when asked about the idea of continuing the franchise. He went on to explain why another sequel isn’t currently in the works.
“I would love that, but there’s a reason it’s been six years since the last one,” Reynolds admitted. “It just sort of swallows my life whole, and I have four kids that I wouldn’t mind introducing myself to at some point. Maybe spend a little time walking them to and from school.”
Despite the challenges of balancing work and family life, Reynolds spoke passionately about his love for the Deadpoolseries and the incredible reception to Deadpool & Wolverine.
“I’m immensely proud and feel really lucky to have been – not just a part of it, obviously – but to work with this crew, with so many people who are at the top of their game,” he said.
Reynolds also praised the team behind the film, calling them “second- or third-generation craftspeople” whose expertise elevated the project.
Reflecting on the experience of completing Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds shared a rare emotional moment. “I loved every second of it, and it’s probably the only film I’ve ever finished that I mourned,” he confessed. “I was genuinely sad and a little depressed when we locked the picture.”
While fans eagerly await news of a fourth Deadpool movie, Reynolds’ heartfelt connection to the franchise and dedication to its quality ensures that if the Merc with a Mouth returns, it will be worth the wait.
