The ongoing legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over their shared winery has taken a dramatic new turn, with a judge ordering Pitt to submit documents that could potentially reveal damaging information about his conduct during their marriage.
On Monday, November 25, a judge instructed Pitt to provide files that, according to Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, would demonstrate “communications concerning abuse, lies to authorities, and years of cover-up” on Pitt’s part. The documents in question include emails, messages, and other written communications, which Murphy claims are crucial to proving Jolie’s case.
Pitt’s legal team had previously argued that Jolie’s motion should be rejected, labeling her demands as a “sensationalist fishing expedition” and accusing her of seeking unnecessary and invasive documents. However, Jolie’s lawyers maintain that Pitt has been actively working to conceal these records. Murphy argued that the documents are “crucial evidence” and central to the case, adding, “His actions harmed Angelina and their children.”
Murphy went on to reiterate that Jolie never intended for their legal issues to escalate to this point. “She never pressed charges, she left all their properties, and she is the one who tried to sell him the business in the first place,” he said. The dispute revolves around the Chateau Miraval estate, a property the couple once shared, which also produces an award-winning sparkling rosé.
“To this day, Mr. Pitt has never been held accountable for his actions and has at all times controlled Miraval and the winery, yet he still demands more,” Murphy continued. “She wants this to end, the children want this to end, and Mr. Pitt should focus on healing their family, not pursuing lawsuits.”
The long-running legal struggle has placed a strain on the former couple, with Jolie’s team making it clear that she wants to put an end to the bitter court battle. However, if Pitt continues with his legal actions, Murphy warned, Jolie is prepared to present the necessary evidence to disprove Pitt’s claims and defend herself in court.
The case has become a focal point of the couple’s post-divorce legal issues, with the Chateau Miraval estate at the center of their ongoing dispute. As the legal battle continues, both sides remain entrenched in their positions, and it remains to be seen how the court will resolve the contentious case.
