Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, joins the 2024 Time’s ‘Person of the Year’ shortlist for her impact on privacy and health conversations.
The 42-year-old royal was recognized for sparking conversations about privacy and health for public figures, especially following her battle with cancer.
The shortlist, announced on the Today show, includes notable names such as President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Vice President Kamala Harris, Joe Rogan, and Benjamin Netanyahu. The winner will be revealed on Thursday, taking the title from Taylor Swift, named Time’s 2023 ‘Person of the Year.’
Princess Kate’s year has been marked by significant health challenges, including abdominal surgery and a subsequent cancer diagnosis in January. She remained largely out of the public eye to focus on her treatment but gradually returned to royal duties.
Her recent appearance at the annual “Together at Christmas” carol service, which she organized at Westminster Abbey, highlighted themes of love and empathy inspired by her difficult year.
Reflecting on her journey, Middleton told singer Paloma Faith, “I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had. The unplanned. But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times.”
Prince William also shared his perspective, describing 2024 as the “hardest year of my life” due to his wife’s and father’s health battles, while expressing pride in their resilience.
Kate Middleton’s nomination underscores her impact both as a public figure and a voice for personal health struggles.
