Prince William paid a touching tribute to his great-grandmother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, during his speech at the Holocaust Memorial Day ceremony in London. Joined by Princess Kate, the Prince of Wales spoke at The Guildhall, marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Addressing an audience that included prominent political figures such as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, William expressed his admiration for Princess Alice, who courageously sheltered Jewish families in Athens during World War II.

“It is a privilege to be here today to remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust,” William remarked. “On this significant anniversary, I am reminded of my great-grandmother, Princess Alice, whose bravery and compassion continue to inspire us.”

The royal couple took part in a candlelighting ceremony with young representatives from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, symbolizing hope and unity for future generations.

Princess Kate, looking elegant in a tailored black Catherine Walker coat and wide-leg trousers, stood by William as they honored the survivors and victims of the Holocaust.

The moving commemorative service will be broadcast on BBC1, offering a poignant reminder of the lessons from history.
