In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, royal expert Tom Quinn revealed that Prince William’s occasional frustration and “tantrums” are well-managed by his wife, Kate Middleton, who has perfected the art of calming him down when things don’t go his way.
According to Quinn, palace staff often joke that Kate treats her husband like a “fourth child” when he gets frustrated. “Occasionally, William has little tantrums and irritations if things aren’t done the way he wants them to be [as heir to the throne],” Quinn explained. However, he emphasized that Kate is “very good at managing” these moments, much like she does with their three children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

A royal staff member reportedly shared with Quinn that they “don’t know” where Prince William would be without Kate’s steady influence. “She calms him down when he gets a bit fractious,” the staffer said. “She says he sometimes has to be treated as her fourth child!”
Quinn also suggested that William’s occasional outbursts may be linked to his “emotionally damaging childhood,” including the highly publicized divorce of his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana. He explained that William found comfort in Kate’s family, who are known for being “very warm, very close with each other, very emotionally aware.”
While Quinn noted that William’s temper may have been more frequent in the early years of his relationship with Kate, he believes that both William and his father, King Charles III, tend to have “tantrums” when things don’t go their way. Nonetheless, he believes that these moments have mellowed over time, thanks to Kate’s calming presence.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship has often been regarded as a stable and supportive partnership, and Kate’s ability to manage her husband’s occasional frustrations appears to be a key factor in their enduring bond. As the royal couple continues to navigate their high-profile lives, Kate’s calming influence is proving to be an essential asset for Prince William.
