HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter series is gradually assembling its cast, and the latest actor to be rumored for a role is British actor-comedian Nick Frost. According to Deadline, Frost is close to finalizing a deal to portray the beloved Rubeus Hagrid, the half-giant and Hogwarts groundskeeper.

If the deal goes through, Frost will join an impressive ensemble cast, which includes John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Professor Snape. While HBO has not officially confirmed these casting choices, multiple sources suggest that these actors are either set for or in negotiations for their roles.

Despite the silence from HBO, fans have been eagerly speculating about Frost’s casting, especially after a cryptic Instagram post on March 20 that read, “It’s happening, it’s actually happening.” Fans also pointed out that Frost recently followed fellow rumored cast members Lithgow and Essiedu on Instagram, further fueling the speculation.

Hagrid, one of the most beloved characters in the Harry Potter universe, was originally portrayed by the late Robbie Coltrane in the film adaptations. Known for his kind heart, love of magical creatures, and loyalty to Harry Potter, Hagrid remains a fan favorite. Frost, who is known for his comedic roles in films like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, could bring his own unique interpretation to the iconic character.

The upcoming Harry Potter series, which is set to span a decade, aims to deliver a more in-depth exploration of J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world. Writer-showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director-executive producer Mark Mylod are committed to providing a “faithful adaptation” of the books, offering fans an even richer look at the magical universe than ever before.

While HBO has kept the details of the series under wraps, the excitement surrounding the show continues to build. Fans are eager to see how the new adaptations of classic characters will unfold, and Frost’s potential casting as Hagrid is just the latest in a string of exciting announcements.

As the series progresses through pre-production, fans can expect more casting announcements and details to emerge in the coming months. For now, the buzz around the show—and Nick Frost’s involvement—remains high, as audiences await the magical journey that is sure to bring the Harry Potter series back to life on the small screen.
