Apple Martin, the 20-year-old model and daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, has opened up about her experience growing up in the public eye and the pressures that come with it. In a candid interview with Interview Magazine, she shared rare insights into the challenges of being raised by A-list parents while also navigating her own path.
Apple recalled the contrasting experiences of her childhood, where she was often thrust into the spotlight one moment and living a normal life the next. “I grew up with this strange balance of being bombarded by cameras when leaving the airport with my mom, and then just being a regular kid,” she explained, reflecting on the difficulty of balancing these two very different worlds.

The young model also touched on how the concept of constant surveillance affected her growing up. She mentioned reading Michel Foucault’s Discipline and Punish, a book that discusses the surveillance state. “I feel like I’ve grown up with that concept of surveillance, which is really unsettling,” Apple shared. “It also made me anxious about making mistakes.”
Despite the pressure, Apple has learned to manage her anxiety as she’s grown older. “I’m getting a lot better. I don’t want to be scared anymore. I just want to do what’s fun and figure things out as I go,” she said, expressing a new sense of freedom in her approach to life.

Apple’s career in the spotlight began at an early age, with her first TV appearance in 2006 as part of VH1’s All Access, which spotlighted the “20 Cutest Celebrity Babies.” Fast forward to January 2023, when Apple had her first major fashion moment sitting front row at the Chanel Haute Couture show in Paris. Her attendance at the prestigious event marked a significant step in her fashion journey. In an interview with Vogue, she expressed her gratitude for the experience. “The Chanel Couture show was my first real fashion experience, and I’m so incredibly grateful to Chanel and their incredible team for having me,” she shared.
However, Apple’s aspirations extend beyond modeling. In the Interview Magazine conversation, she revealed her lifelong love for theater. “I’ve always loved theater, and I would love to get involved,” she said with excitement. “I haven’t done a movie yet, but I’ve been trying to get into student films. I was definitely born a theater kid,” Apple added, showcasing her passion for performance.
As she continues to carve out her own identity in the public eye, Apple Martin is determined to embrace new experiences and opportunities while staying true to her passions. With her journey just beginning, it’s clear she’s eager to navigate her career with both authenticity and a sense of adventure.
