Katy Perry, the music sensation known for her unforgettable voice and chart-topping hits, has just achieved a new milestone—by performing “What a Wonderful World” in space during Blue Origin’s latest mission.
At 40 years old, Perry joined an esteemed crew on this monumental journey to space, including Lauren Sanchez, Jeff Bezos’ fiancée; TV personality Gayle King; activist Amanda Nguyen; former NASA scientist Aisha Bowe; and film producer Kerianne Flynn. Together, they embarked on an 11-minute mission that took them 62 miles above the Earth’s surface.
The flight marked a historical moment: it was the first all-female spaceflight in over 60 years, with the rocket soaring past a stunning pink moon, making the journey even more memorable for all involved.
Upon landing safely in West Texas, the crew was greeted with a hero’s welcome. Katy Perry, who had been singing mid-flight, was one of the first to exit the capsule. She kissed the ground in excitement and appreciation, reflecting on the historic moment.

Lauren Sanchez, who was the first to step out of the rocket, expressed her pride in the accomplishment, saying, “I’m so proud of this amazing crew.” She went on to describe her emotions from space, commenting, “Earth looked so quiet. It was just quiet. I don’t think you can describe it. It was quiet but also really alive. You look at it and you’re like, we’re all in this together. That’s all I could think about. I don’t cry that often so I didn’t expect to be this emotional.”
As the mission concluded, Katy Perry sat down for an interview with Charissa Thompson, discussing her incredible adventure and the emotional experience of looking back at Earth from such a unique vantage point.
The success of this mission marks not only a milestone for space exploration but also a moment of empowerment for women in science and exploration.
