As the trial of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs approaches, Cassie Ventura, his ex-girlfriend, is making headlines by rejecting his legal demands. With the official trial set to begin on May 5, Cassie, 38, has requested a judge to block a subpoena issued by Diddy on March 19.

Cassie Pushes Back Against Diddy’s Subpoena

In the latest update, Cassie is refusing to comply with Diddy’s request for her financial records and any materials related to a book she wrote about their past relationship. The subpoena also demands that she turn over all “draft memoirs, autobiographies, diaries, journals, notes, and any communications regarding plans to publish or threaten to publish such a document.”

TMZ reports that last fall, Cassie offered Diddy the opportunity to “catch and kill” her book for a $30 million fee, an offer which Diddy reportedly declined. This offer has added to the tension surrounding the ongoing legal battle between the former couple.

Legal Action and Support for Cassie’s Request

Cassie’s legal team, led by Acting U.S. Attorney Matthew Podolsky, strongly opposed the subpoena. Podolsky called Diddy’s request “plainly improper,” highlighting that the draft memoirs would only serve as “inadmissible hearsay” in the trial.

Cassie has been outspoken about the abuse she allegedly suffered during her decade-long relationship with Diddy, which ended in 2018. In November 2023, she filed a sexual assault lawsuit against Diddy, which was quietly settled within a day.

The Backstory: Cassie’s Lawsuit and Settlement

Cassie’s lawsuit against Diddy made headlines late last year, as she became one of the first individuals to publicly accuse the music mogul of sexual assault. Although the lawsuit was settled quickly, the legal drama continues to unfold, with Cassie now challenging Diddy’s subpoena in the lead-up to the trial.

Impact of Cassie’s Legal Actions

As Diddy’s trial date nears, the legal clash with Cassie is making waves in the media. Her defiance against Diddy’s legal demands underscores the seriousness of the allegations and adds further complexity to the case. Fans and legal experts are watching closely to see how the case develops, especially as Cassie’s role in the trial continues to gain attention.
