Meghan Markle’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which showcases her homemaking skills and personal lifestyle, almost didn’t happen. During her appearance at the Time100 Summit on April 24, the Duchess of Sussex shared that she was initially hesitant to reveal her love for homemaking on a public platform.
“I’ve always loved to make things in my kitchen, arrange flowers, and make jam,” Meghan, 43, shared with the audience, according to GB News. Despite her passion for creating homemade gifts, Meghan wasn’t sure she wanted to turn it into a public series. “When Netflix’s chief content officer, Bela Bajaria, suggested a show centered around my homemade gifts, I hadn’t considered that as something I wanted to share,” Meghan admitted.

However, the show eventually moved forward, but faced mixed reviews from critics, particularly in the UK. The Telegraph gave the series a “two-star” rating, labeling it an “exercise in narcissism,” while also criticizing the extravagant brunches, celebrity guests, and business promotions.
Despite the negative reviews, Meghan’s series managed to garner significant attention, especially for her lifestyle products. Within just half an hour of the show’s debut, her homemade products were sold out, proving that fans were still enthusiastic about what she had to offer.
One of the more personal aspects of the show was Meghan’s decision not to film inside the Montecito home she shares with Prince Harry and their two children. Meghan explained, “When people ask why we didn’t film in our house, it’s because I have kids coming home from their nap, and 80 people in the kitchen isn’t exactly the childhood memory I want them to have.”
While the series faced some criticism, Meghan’s products and the heartwarming moments of the show seem to have resonated with many viewers, demonstrating her ability to turn her passion for homemaking into a profitable and beloved brand.
