Zayn Malik is celebrating one year of his critically acclaimed album Room Under the Stairs in a show-stopping way — with a custom The Last of Us-themed cake gifted by HBO.
On Saturday, May 17, the former One Direction star took to Instagram Stories to share the extravagant surprise with his fans. The 32-year-old singer was clearly blown away by the hyper-realistic cake, which paid tribute to the hit post-apocalyptic video game and television series.
The edible masterpiece featured a life-sized guitar placed beside a rock-like structure adorned with coral detailing, adding a post-apocalyptic aesthetic. A realistic black sneaker, also made entirely of cake, sat next to the guitar, surrounded by real plants and intricate design elements.
Zayn shared the moment with his followers, setting the video to music from The Last of Us and captioning it:
“What the f*! Thank you so much! This cake is insane… Don’t even want to cut it.”**
He filmed the cake from multiple angles, expressing awe and appreciation for the thoughtful gift.
In a follow-up post, the Dusk Till Dawn singer wrote:
“Can’t believe it’s 1 year of Room Under the Stairs.”
He also thanked HBO and The Last of Us for the surprise, calling it a memorable way to mark the milestone.
To further celebrate the album’s anniversary, Malik reposted fan-made edits and tributes on his social media accounts, thanking his fans for their love and loyalty over the past year.
Room Under the Stairs has played a key role in shaping Zayn’s solo career, leading to his first-ever solo tour nearly 10 years after leaving One Direction in 2015. The tour is especially meaningful to fans following the recent loss of former bandmate Liam Payne, who passed away on October 16, 2024.
