LOS ANGELES — June 2025: Brad Pitt has revealed that he’s open to sharing the screen with Tom Cruise again — but only if the high-flying action star keeps his feet firmly on the ground.
While promoting his upcoming film F1 at its premiere in Mexico City, the Troy actor was asked by E! News whether a collaboration with Top Gun star Tom Cruise might be in the cards. Pitt, 60, shared his admiration for Cruise, with whom he co-starred in Interview with the Vampire back in 1994.
“He’s sweet,” Pitt said with a smile, reminiscing about their playful go-kart racing days in the 1990s. “He was the superior contender back then,” the Ocean’s Eleven actor added.
However, when asked if he would consider teaming up for a new film, Pitt joked about Cruise’s famously daring stunts.
“Well, I’m not gonna hang myself off an airplane like that,” he quipped. “When he does something again that’s on the ground.”
Pitt’s humorous yet clear condition drew laughter from fans and reporters alike, as Cruise is known for his extreme dedication to performing his own high-risk stunts, especially in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview with GQ, F1 director Joseph Kosinski — who also directed Top Gun: Maverick — clarified that Cruise was never in the running to play Pitt’s role in the high-octane racing film.
“Tom always pushes it to the limit, but at the same time is super capable and very skilled,” Kosinski explained. “They both have the natural talent for driving. But, yeah, I could see Tom maybe scaring us a little bit more.”
Brad Pitt’s F1 is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 27, and fans are already excited to see the star behind the wheel in this adrenaline-fueled racing drama.
While a future on-screen collaboration between Pitt and Cruise isn’t ruled out, it seems it’ll only happen if gravity — and safety — prevail.
