In a candid interview, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about how she and Prince Harry are instilling financial values in their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, by engaging them in gardening and selling produce at a local farmer’s market in Montecito, California.

“There’s a cost and a price for things, and I think that’s key for children to understand, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege,” the mother-of-two shared. “You need to know that — just like manners and taking care of the things around you — there is a value on things.”

Meghan and Harry’s decision to introduce their kids to the farmer’s market experience aims to ground them in real-life values that go beyond royalty.

The former Suits actress also highlighted the developmental benefits of gardening, calling it an effective tool to teach kids patience, responsibility, and gratitude.

“Gardening is really, really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food,” Meghan explained.

The couple reportedly grows a variety of vegetables at their Montecito estate, and they sometimes set up a small stand to sell their harvest — a mini business venture that lets Archie and Lilibet experience earning and spending money first-hand.

“We sometimes do a little farmer’s market stand,” Meghan said. “We grow a lot of veggies, and part of what I want them to learn is… gardening is really great for children.”

Finding Joy in the Simple Moments

Balancing motherhood with her growing lifestyle brand, Meghan shared a glimpse into her quiet nighttime routine — one filled with simplicity, love, and a touch of mindfulness.

“I love it at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at like 7ish. I can go downstairs, have a glass of wine [and] I’m doing their little lunch,” she revealed. “I find joy in it for whatever reason and it can be therapeutic.”

Meghan’s latest parenting insights not only reflect her down-to-earth values but also offer a glimpse into how she’s shaping a more conscious future for the next generation of royals — one veggie at a time.
