Glen Powell, the 36-year-old actor known for his roles in hit films and TV projects, has dismissed any speculation about stepping into the iconic James Bond tuxedo.
In a recent cover story with The Hollywood Reporter about his upcoming sports comedy series Chad Powers, Powell made it clear that playing 007 is not on his radar.
“I’m Texan. A Texan should not play James Bond,” Powell stated. With a laugh, he added, “My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond.”
Who Should Be 007?
Powell emphasized that the role should go to a true Brit, telling the outlet:
“Get an authentic Brit for that job. That’s who belongs in that tuxedo.”
Fans have long speculated about who might be the next actor to portray the legendary spy. Names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Golding, and Tom Holland have surfaced, but none have officially confirmed their involvement. Taron Egerton has already ruled himself out, while Holland recently described the role as “the pinnacle of working in our industry” for young British actors.
Focused on His Own Projects
For now, Powell seems perfectly content to let British actors handle the legacy of 007. Instead, he is focusing on his upcoming series Chad Powers, where he will showcase his comedic and dramatic range in a brand-new role.
While James Bond speculation continues, Glen Powell is keeping his sights firmly on his own career path, leaving MI6 in the hands of the Brits.
