Elizabeth Olsen has opened up about her decision to stay out of the social media spotlight, emphasizing that she prefers audiences focus on her work rather than her personal life.
In a recent interview with InStyle, the 36-year-old actress explained that her limited online presence stems from a desire to protect her privacy.
“If you put yourself out there, people think that you want them to come in,” Olsen said. “I don’t want anyone to know my personality all that well. Or identify me as someone who does a specific type of goofy trope video or something on Instagram once a month.”
Focus on Acting Over Personal Branding
Olsen, known for her roles in WandaVision, Eternity, and The Assessment, emphasized that she wants audiences to concentrate on her performances rather than associate her with a particular brand or persona.

“I don’t want people to associate me with a brand. I want people to watch a movie and see me as a character,” she explained. While acknowledging that some actors balance personal branding and professional work effectively, Olsen prefers a more private approach.
Not Trying to Be Mysterious
Despite her guarded nature, Olsen clarified that she isn’t deliberately being mysterious. “I’m not mysterious. I think I’m private in certain aspects, but I say too much. I’m long-winded and circuitous,” she said.
Reflections on Early Career
Olsen also reflected on her early years in acting, noting that she always had a passion for the craft but never rushed into fame. She revealed that she even missed a childhood ballet role due to auditions, emphasizing her long-standing dedication to performance.
Now, the WandaVision star believes her acting skills continue to grow with time. “I feel more capable,” she added, highlighting her ongoing commitment to her craft.
