Prince Harry was caught completely off guard when Hasan Minhaj blindsided him with a question about Taylor Swift and Charli XCX’s rumored feud on the comedian’s Doesn’t Know podcast — and his reaction has quickly gone viral.
The Duke of Sussex made a surprise appearance on Minhaj’s October 29 episode, where the host opened with a bizarrely pop-culture-heavy question:
“This one’s heavy, Harry. What do you think of this Taylor Swift, Charli XCX beef?”
Harry, clearly puzzled, blinked and responded, “The what? Oh no,” before breaking into an awkward laugh. His expression said it all — the Duke had no idea what feud Minhaj was talking about.
Prince Harry’s Awkward Yet Hilarious Response
The Euphoria-style tension in the room was quickly broken as the host doubled down, explaining,
“No, this is serious. Cause was Charli’s diss track even a diss track? I mean, to me, ‘Sympathy is a Knife’ was about something completely different, but then Taylor comes back and escalates it with ‘Actually Romantic.’”
Minhaj kept pushing the topic, while Harry looked amused yet utterly lost, finally chuckling, “Well…” before trailing off again.
Fans online loved every second of the exchange, calling it “the most British confusion ever captured on audio.”
A Busy Week for the Sussexes
Harry’s lighthearted podcast moment came just a day after Meghan Markle was seen jamming to Taylor Swift’s song “Opalite” from The Life of a Showgirl album — coinciding with the latest release from her As Ever lifestyle brand.
According to the episode description, the conversation between Harry and Minhaj later pivoted to more serious topics, including the Duke’s life in America, lessons from the rise of social media and AI, and even jokes about “what a guy has to do around here to get knighted.”
In a viral clip shared to Instagram, Minhaj also challenged Harry to mimic an American accent, which led to a hilarious attempt complete with a joke about ordering breadsticks with ranch at Applebee’s.
Was It Prince Harry’s First Podcast Appearance?
Not quite. The Duke of Sussex has previously featured on Masters of Scale with LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, and Bryony Gordon’s mental health podcast.
He also joined Meghan in 2020 on Teenager Therapy to mark World Mental Health Day, later launching Archewell Audio through a partnership with Spotify.
What’s the Taylor Swift–Charli XCX Feud About?
The so-called feud began when fans speculated that Charli XCX’s “Sympathy Is a Knife” — from her 2024 album Brat— took aim at Taylor Swift. The song includes lyrics about feeling overshadowed by a “bigger artist.”
Then came Swift’s song “Actually Romantic” from The Life of a Showgirl, which some listeners interpreted as a subtle clapback — though neither artist has confirmed any bad blood.
