Khloé Kardashian has shared heartbreaking insights into her marriage with Lamar Odom, describing his “monstrous” drug use and the challenges she faced during their union. The revelations come ahead of the Netflix documentary Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, set to premiere on March 31, 2026.
Khloé Reflects on Odom’s Addiction
The former couple, who met in 2009 and married just two months later, faced devastating personal and health struggles. Khloé explained that Lamar’s substance abuse led to twelve strokes, six heart attacks, and a coma, which delayed her divorce filing until he recovered.
“At the beginning, it was a recreational thing. As silly as this sounds, it seemed responsibly done,” Khloé said, recalling how she initially underestimated the severity of Odom’s addiction.
Over time, his drug use escalated, and she described instances where he would disappear for hours or days, escaping rehab and going on benders. Khloé admitted:
“I was either looking for him in alleys or looking for him in motels. He would have tinfoil cutouts or spoons and he was freebasing things and leaving things everywhere.”
Tragic Personal Loss
Khloé also discussed how the couple coped with personal tragedy, including the death of Lamar’s six-month-old son Jayden Odom from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) in 2006. Khloé described how his grief contributed to the intensity of his drug use during their marriage.
“I was such an enabler without knowing I was an enabler. But I just felt such a responsibility to cover this up, hold it together and protect him,” she said.
How They Met
Khloé shared that her introduction to Lamar happened at a party in Los Angeles, set up by his teammate Ron Artest. Initially skeptical of Lamar, she recalled the humorous first interaction:
“I remember he had a plastic bag and I was like, ‘What’s in your bag?’ And he’s like, ‘Candy.’ I told him, ‘You’re such a liar. You probably have condoms in that bag.’ And it was all candy — only candy.”
Divorce and Aftermath
The couple officially announced their separation in 2016. Despite the challenges and public scrutiny, Khloé’s reflections in the documentary provide a candid look at life behind the headlines, revealing both the pain and resilience involved in their journey.
