Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly spent a largely private Easter holiday in 2026, focusing on family time following the Princess of Wales’ recent cancer remission. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond offered insight into the likely celebrations during a conversation with The Mirror.
Taking Time for Family After Health Challenges
Bond highlighted how the royal couple has quickly resumed public duties but suggested that Easter provided an opportunity for them to “ring-fence” time with their children. She remarked, “They’ll feel justified in taking as much time as they can over the Easter holidays to be with their children.”
Noting the lifelong responsibilities of royalty, Bond added, “William and Catherine have a job for life: there is no retirement age for a King and Queen. I don’t begrudge them taking this valuable time to be with their young children as much as they can.”
Likely Easter Locations and Activities
While the couple keeps their holiday plans private, Bond speculated that the family spent most of their time at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall. Their celebrations may also have been motivated by a desire to avoid ongoing controversies surrounding William’s uncle, Prince Andrew, who lives nearby.
The Princess of Wales’ outdoor-loving nature likely influenced the children’s activities. Bond explained, “The children love the wide open spaces in Norfolk, the freedom to explore the Sandringham estate and play, pretty unhindered, on the beaches.”

Activities may have included beach romps, dog walks, barbecues, and sports. At the Sandringham farm, the children could watch tractors, feed animals, and pick fruit. Bond also suggested they might have helped with small household chores such as tidying rooms, brushing the dogs, and helping in the kitchen, reflecting the couple’s belief in teaching responsibility.
A Balance of Royal Life and Family Values
Bond emphasized that William and Kate’s own experiences outside palace life—in university and early residences like Anglesey—influence how they raise their children. She concluded, “They will want their children to understand that, even if you’re royal, you can still treat your home and parents with respect—and pull your weight.”
This private Easter celebration underscores the couple’s commitment to family, normalcy, and outdoor play, particularly important in the wake of Kate Middleton’s recent health challenges.
