In a phone interview with the BBC, Trump described King Charles as “fantastic” and said the visit would be positive for UK–US ties.

“He’s a fantastic man. Absolutely the answer is yes,” Trump said when asked whether the visit could improve relations.

The upcoming trip will see King Charles, alongside Queen Camilla, travel to the US for a four-day state visit beginning on Monday.

The visit is being viewed as one of the most significant of Charles’ reign, taking place during a sensitive period in UK–US relations.

Marking 250 Years Since US Independence

The visit also coincides with the 250th anniversary of the US Declaration of Independence, adding historical significance to the diplomatic trip.

Buckingham Palace has outlined a packed schedule, including a private tea with Trump, a congressional address, a state dinner, and stops in New York and Virginia.

Strained Political Backdrop

Despite the ceremonial tone of the visit, relations between the two nations have recently faced tensions, including disagreements over foreign policy and military cooperation.

The trip is being closely watched as a symbolic effort to reinforce the long-standing “special relationship” between the UK and the US.

Focus on Diplomacy and Royal Engagement

While the visit includes major political events, it is also expected to highlight cultural and historical ties between the countries.

Officials hope the royal tour will help reinforce diplomatic connections at a time of global uncertainty.
