NEW YORK, April 30 — King Charles III and Queen Camilla capped off a packed day in New York City with a high-profile reception celebrating culture, charity and transatlantic ties.
The royal couple attended the “Greater Together” event at Christie’s on Wednesday evening, part of their ongoing four-day state visit to the United States.
The reception, held in partnership with The King’s Trust, highlighted the United Kingdom’s cultural influence in New York, spanning the arts, fashion, sports and community initiatives.
A Night of Royal Engagement and Star Power
The event drew a host of prominent figures from entertainment, fashion and business, including Martha Stewart, Anna Wintour, Lionel Richie, Stella McCartney and Donatella Versace, underscoring the global reach of the initiative.
During the evening, the King addressed guests, reflecting on the legacy of his charity, which he founded in 1976 to support disadvantaged youth.
“It is an extraordinary moment to mark nearly 50 years since the trust began,” he said, emphasizing the long-term impact of investing in young people.

He highlighted what he described as a “virtuous circle,” where individuals who benefited from the program return to support future generations.
Strengthening U.K.–U.S. Cultural Links
The reception also featured a curated showcase of British cultural institutions and their influence abroad. Exhibits explored collaborations between the U.K. and U.S., including contributions from organizations such as BAFTA, the British Fashion Council and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The King and Queen also met young participants involved in programs run by King’s Trust America, which focus on employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth.
A Full Day of Engagements
Earlier in the day, the royal couple visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, marking their first appearance at the site honoring victims of the 2001 attacks.
They later carried out separate engagements. The King attended a business-focused event and visited community initiatives, while the Queen took part in a literary gathering at the New York Public Library, aligning with her advocacy for literacy.
Ongoing State Visit
The visit forms part of a broader diplomatic tour commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. The couple previously began their trip in Washington, D.C., where they attended official events hosted by Donald Trump and Melania Trump.
They are scheduled to conclude their visit with engagements in Virginia, including a community celebration marking the historic milestone.
The New York reception served as both a cultural showcase and a reminder of enduring ties between the United Kingdom and the United States, with the King placing particular emphasis on youth empowerment and long-term social impact.
