South Korean girl group Blackpink has set a new record in the music industry by achieving the highest-grossing world tour from a girl group. Touring Data revealed that the group earned approximately $78.4 million from their first 26 shows, surpassing other major girl groups such as Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, and TLC.
The achievement is even more impressive given that Blackpink still has 19 more shows left on their tour, which includes major stadium shows in locations such as MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, San Francisco’s Oracle Park, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
Blackpink consists of four members, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé, and debuted in 2016 under the label YG Entertainment. The group quickly gained global recognition, thanks to their catchy songs, stunning visuals, and powerful performances. Blackpink is also known for their record-breaking music videos, such as “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That,” which have garnered billions of views on YouTube.
In addition to their music accomplishments, Blackpink also made history in 2019 by becoming the first K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, one of the world’s biggest music festivals.
