Trump accuses Elon Musk of currying favour with Biden administration

Elon Musk’s admission of voting for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election has caused controversy, with former President Donald Trump expressing disbelief and accusing the tech billionaire of currying favor with the current administration.

During a recent interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Musk revealed that he had voted for Biden in the 2020 presidential election. This statement was met with disbelief and criticism from Trump, who took to his Truth Social platform to express his doubts about Musk’s claim.

Trump claimed that Musk had previously told him that he had voted for him, and that his endorsement of Biden was a calculated move to secure government subsidies and permits for his companies, including SpaceX, Tesla, and his tunnel company.

While Musk had previously indicated support for Democrats, his recent admission of voting for Biden seemed to contradict his past statements. However, Trump’s accusation that Musk’s Twitter account was “illegally controlled” by the FBI is unfounded, given that Twitter is a publicly traded company.

Despite Trump’s claims, Musk’s companies have indeed received significant assistance from the government. SpaceX, for example, has a contract with NASA to launch astronauts to the International Space Station and frequently launches government-owned satellite payloads. Tesla, on the other hand, receives federal assistance in the form of tax credits as part of the government’s efforts to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.

It remains to be seen whether Musk will respond to Trump’s comments or whether this controversy will have any impact on their relationship moving forward. However, the incident has highlighted the complicated relationship between Silicon Valley and Washington, and the potential for political considerations to shape business decisions.
