On Monday night, Bright Flashes of lights were seen across the Australian sky were likely to have remains of a Russian rocket, the country’s space agency said.
The flashy display was seen over the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania, stunning stargazers who supposed it might be a meteor. But the Space Agency of Australia said that it was more likely to have been a Russian Soyuz-2 rocket re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Space Agency added that the rocket had been launched from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Russia’s northwest.
This launch was declared and remains of the rocket were prepared to safely re-enter the atmosphere into the ocean off the southeast coast of Tasmania.
While the Space Agency will re-continue to watch the results of this re-entry with our state associates.”
