Indian PM Modi was accused by the opposition in a no-confidence motion over violence in Manipur

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, was accused by the opposition as the PM preferring quietness while a northeastern state governed by his party shuddered in ethical brutality as Parliament started an argument on Tuesday on a no-confidence motion against his government that’s confident to be conquered.

If Manipur is burning, India is burning. If Manipur is split, India is split.”

Gaurav Gogoi, congress party lawmaker said as he began debate on the motion.

Indian PM has been quiet on the massacre in the remote state for three months, and the Indian opposition forced the no-confidence motion to force Modi to handle the Manipur dispute from the floor of Parliament.

On Thursday, Modi could talk about when the motion will be put to a vote. Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled governance carries a majority in Parliament, meaning the motion is certain to be defeated.

Gogoi said the no-confidence motion is about pursuing justice for Manipur. He added that Modi’s quietness portrayed the loss of his party on a state and federal level. Modi has not spoken a word of condolence or even pleaded for peace in Manipur since the violence started, he added.

While Rahul Gandhi, the top opposition leader, could speak on Tuesday, a day after his parliamentary seat was restored. He was returned as a member of Parliament on Monday after India’s Supreme Court suspended his conviction last week. The movement could bolster a struggling opposition and their new association.

India’s Parliament has been shut in an extreme dilemma for weeks over the situation in Manipur. They have also called for the dismissal of Biren Singh, Manipur’s top elected official and a BJP member, and to set a law that would get the state under direct federal control.

More than 150 deaths have happened in Manipur and over 50,000 people have flown in fear as conflicts continue to burst.

The dispute was initiated by an affirmative action debate in which Christian Kukis opposed a request by largely Hindu Meiteis for a certain status that would let them purchase land in the hills populated by Kukis.

Last month, a video showing an attack on two women being marched naked and groped in Manipur. Modi denounced the incident, even as he withheld from managing the dispute.
