Kuwait banned the film Barbie in a request to protect public ethics and social traditions, soon after a Lebanese minister asked his country’s authorities to ban the movie, Barbie, from the country’s cinemas for “promoting homosexuality”.

Barbie, the Warner Brothers, movie which has topped $1 billion at the Worldwide box office since its debut in cinemas, “promulgates ideas and ideas that are strange to Kuwaiti society and public order”, a spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information said, according to KUNA.

The ministry also banned, Talk to Me, the Australian horror film on similar environments.

Mohammad Mortada, the Culture Minister of Lebanon announced on late Wednesday that he has requested the Lebanese interior ministry to take every single required actions to bar showing Barbie in the country.

Barbie movie promotes transsexuality and homosexuality … backs denying a father’s guardianship, sabotages and mocks the role of the mother, and challenges the need for marriage and having a family.”

Mohammad Mortada said.

After Mortada’s proposal, Bassam Mawlawi, the Interior Ministry asked the country’s censorship committee, which is traditionally liable for censorship determinations, to inspect the movie and give its suggestion.

Barbie movie was scheduled to be screened in Lebanese cinemas on August 31.
