Google introduced “Bard” to compete with its rival “ChatGPT”

To compete with the chatbot of OpenAI “ChatGPT” Google introduce its Chat bot named “Bard”. Bard will be available in the coming weeks for the public.

Bard will be opened up to “trusted testers” starting Monday, with plans to make it available to the public in the coming weeks.”

Bard is built on a large language model, different sources are telling it will be a bigger language model than ChatGPT which was released in November by OpenAI. These language models are trained to generate quick responses to user commands.

Bard seeks to combine the breadth of the World’s knowledge with the power, intelligence, and creativity of our large language models. It draws on information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality responses.”

The unveiled announcement of Bard comes when Google’s online search faced a terrible risk. As ChatGPT become the most demandable Chatbot, people used it to write poems, songs, scripts, and many others that might previously have been searched for on Google.

ChatGPT becomes the most attentive Chatboot to its users and Google’s former users which is “Code red” for Google’s search business.

Paul Buchheit who is one of the creators of Gmail tweeted last year. “Google may be only a year or two away from total disruption. AI will eliminate the Search Engine Result Page, which is where they make most of their money.”

Even if they catch up on AI, they can't fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business! https://t.co/jtq25LXdkj

After confirming investing billions in the OpenAI tool, Microsoft likely integrates the OpenAI tool into its search engine tool, Bing. If ChatGPT integrates into Bing so that would be not good for Google.

The basic technology that supports Google Chatbot has been around for some time but it hasn’t been available to the public yet. Google unveiled its Language Model for Dialogue Applications ( LaMDA) two years ago and said Monday that this technology will power Bard.

Google offered an example of a user asking Bard to explain discoveries made by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope in a way so a 9-year-old can read it interestingly. Bard answers, “In 2023, The JWST spotted several galaxies nicknamed ‘green peas.’ They were given this name because they are small, round, and green, like peas.”

According to Google, Bard can be used to plan a friend’s baby shower, you can compare two Oscar-nominated movies. Even you can get recipe ideas based on what’s in your fridge.

Soon, you’ll see AI-powered features in Search that distill complex information and multiple perspectives into easy-to-digest formats, so you can quickly understand the big picture and learn more from the web.

Whether that’s seeking out additional perspectives, like blogs from people who play both piano and guitar, or going deeper on a related topic, like steps to get started as a beginner.”
