Pro-Russian hackers hit Dutch hospitals

As reported on Wednesday, Pro-Russian hackers hit Dutch hospitals, they targeted their national and social websites. After hitting the websites of German airports, Pro-Russian hackers are aiming to hit Dutch hospital websites. University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) hospital in the city of Groningen, saw its website crash in the cyberattack on Saturday. UMCG hospital is known as one of the biggest and main hospitals in the Netherlands.

The European hospital including in the Netherlands have been hit by Russian based hacking group Killnet. They announced DDoS attacks among other things because our nation and country helping Ukraine in its war against Russia. While the impacts of DDoS attacks are limited and it is successfully mitigated.”

Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack is specially designed to overwhelm the target with a flood of internet traffic which normally prevents the system from functioning.

Although only UMCG has been affected by cyberattacks yet, the Killnet threatened to target 31 more Netherlands hospitals. While Hospitals in Britain, Poland, Scandinavia, and the United States also reported being targeted by the same group.

In November, Killnet was also linked to a DDoS attack on the website of the European Parliament. After some days of attacks, lawmakers approved a resolution calling Moscow a “state sponsor of terrorism.”
