On Tuesday authorities said, Russian hackers cybercriminals hit the websites of German airports, financial sector organizations, and administration bodies which are instigated by the “Russian hackers group”. A spokesman told AFP that Federal Cyber Security Authority (BSI) knew about DDoS attacks against targets in Germany.”
Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack is specially designed to overwhelm the target with a flood of internet traffic which normally prevents the system from functioning.
The targets of the attacks were especially the website of the airport, the financial sector, and most important the websites of federal and state administrations. The attack was announced by “Killnet” which is the Russian hacker group.”

According to the financial daily Handelsblatt, the call was in response to Chancellor Olaf Scholz‘s announcement in which he announces that Germany would send Leopard 2 tanks to help Ukraine to fight against Russia.
BSI spokesman said it was hard to attribute attacks to hackers. They call for action and then a lot of people take part. Attackers made several websites unavailable. Moreover, BSI said, Attacks were largely repelled with no serious effect on Public administrations.
The interior ministry for southwestern Baden-Wuerttemberg state acknowledged “nationwide” DDoS attacks since Wednesday evening against websites, including those of public administration and the regional police.
While the war is going on between Russia and Ukraine, Germany is on high alert. As they have a threat from Russia In October, the Federal Office for Information Security said that the threat level for hacking attacks and other cybercrime activities was higher “than ever”.
