Scientist have discovered a mysterious heartbeat from the sun

A mysterious heartbeat has been heard and noticed by scientists radiating from our sun in the form of a solar flare more than 3100 miles above the star’s surface.

Researchers have pinpointed the source of a mysterious radio burst from the Sun with a signal pattern similar to that of a “heartbeat”, an advance that sheds better light on the process behind solar flares.

On Tuesday, The study published in the journal Nature Communications, uncovered the source location of a radio signal coming from within a solar flare over 5,000km above the Sun’s surface. Researchers, including those from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in the US, say the new findings can help us better understand the physical processes behind the energy release of solar flares.

An astronomer and Co-author Sijie Yu affiliated with NJIT, said in a statement: “The discovery is unexpected” Also “This beating pattern is important for understanding how energy is released and is dissipated in the Sun’s atmosphere during these incredibly powerful explosions on the sun.”

These signals are repeating themselves at every 10 to 20 seconds and are also known as Quasi-Periodic Pulsations (QPP).

Ultimately, Yu says the study’s findings cast fresh light on an important phenomenon underlying the reconnection process that drives these explosive events.

This news isn’t the only revelation from space recently, as the universe has also realized that the moon is drifting slowly further from Earth.
