In videos broadly circulating on social media, the sky is illuminated in glints of green as the meteor journeys through the clouds over the region.
Those at a kids’ park were entertained by surprising views, believed to be generated by a meteoroid entering the Earth’s upper atmosphere and heating up.
In the video, a kid can be seen playing with a balloon as the meteor unexpectedly shoots across the clouded sky, forming a mysterious display of color.
The meteor was noticed above the city of Ezurum in eastern Anatolia, a famous destination for nature enthusiasts.
Another video showed a more transparent view of the meteor transforming color as it passed through the skies.
The meteor was also seeable in the seaside city of Antalya, where social media users shared pictures of gardens and parks lit up green and red.
Drivers on a rural road were also amazed by the meteor.
