Recent court documents released as part of the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp defamation case have brought to light fresh allegations concerning Jason Momoa’s behavior on the set of “Aquaman.” These allegations come from notes taken by clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes, who was called as a witness by Amber Heard’s legal team.
The documents state that Amber Heard described her co-star Jason Momoa as “drunk” and “late on set.” Furthermore, she alleged that Momoa arrived on the set of the DC Studios superhero film “dressing like” her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, even wearing “all the rings.”
DC Studios responded to these allegations by stating, “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.’ We’re excited for audiences to see the film this December.”
The defamation case began when Johnny Depp sued his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for defamation over a 2018 op-ed she wrote, which included abuse allegations. After a lengthy legal battle, Heard paid Depp a $1 million settlement. Throughout the trial, Heard testified that her role as Mera in the upcoming “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” had been significantly reduced due to the public attention on her personal life. Director James Wan confirmed that her character was never intended to have a major role in the sequel.
Heard expressed her frustration during the trial, saying, “I fought really hard to stay in the movie,” and noted that her character’s scenes were significantly reduced. Walter Hamada, the former president of DC Films at Warner Bros., testified that discussions about a “lack of chemistry” between Heard and Momoa had taken place, but her defamation trial had no impact on the size of her role in the franchise’s second installment.
Amber Heard’s talent agent, Jessica Kovacevic, also testified that the attention the actress received during her televised trial opposite Depp negatively impacted her career. The court documents’ notes from Dr. Dawn Hughes include allegations from Heard that Momoa “said he wanted me fired” from the sequel.
Furthermore, there were indications of tension between Heard and director James Wan on the set of “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.” Elon Musk, Heard’s former boyfriend, reportedly sent a letter to Warner Bros. threatening consequences if she was cut from the sequel.
Amber Heard is set to star in the film “In the Fire,” which will be released on October 13. The film’s director, Conor Allyn, stated that Heard is now “living her best life in Spain with her daughter and just finding happiness in that way.” Heard, who received death threats during the defamation trial, moved her two-year-old daughter from the U.S. to Spain to escape the chaos.
The allegations surrounding Jason Momoa’s on-set behavior have added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing legal battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The case continues to be a point of intense public interest and legal scrutiny.
