Ariana Grande is ecstatic after receiving her first-ever Academy Award nomination for her role in Wicked. The 31-year-old pop star was nominated for Best Supporting Actress as part of the 2024 Oscar nominations, which were announced earlier today.

Taking to Instagram, Grande shared her overwhelming emotions with her fans. She posted a heartfelt message, thanking the Academy for the “unfathomable recognition” and expressing her excitement through tears.

“Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition, I cannot stop crying to no one’s surprise,” she wrote.

Grande also expressed her gratitude to Wicked director Jon M. Chu for trusting her with the role and providing guidance throughout the filming process. She wrote, “Thank you @jonmchu for taking this chance on me and for being the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and most fierce friend.”

Additionally, she gave a special shoutout to her co-star and close friend, Cynthia Erivo, calling her a “sister” and expressing her deep appreciation for their shared experience. “I don’t quite have all my words yet, I’m still trying to breathe. But thank you. Oh my goodness, thank you,” she added.

Ariana Grande starred alongside Cynthia Erivo in the 2024 musical Wicked, which has already become a box office hit, further boosting the excitement surrounding the film’s success and Grande’s Academy nomination.
