Barry Keoghan Teases Possible Return as Joker in The Batman: Part II

As excitement builds for The Batman: Part II, one question remains on the minds of DC fans: Will Barry Keoghan’s Joker return to the big screen?

The 32-year-old actor made a brief but memorable appearance in Matt Reeves’ 2022 blockbuster The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role. In a haunting closing scene, Batman visits Arkham Asylum following the Riddler’s capture, where he engages in a cryptic conversation with an unseen inmate—hinted to be none other than the Joker, portrayed by Keoghan.

Though only featured for a moment, Keoghan’s sinister presence left a lasting impression and sparked immediate speculation about the Joker’s future in Reeves’ Gotham universe. The iconic villain, previously portrayed by legends like Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson, seems poised for a return—but Warner Bros. has yet to officially confirm any details.

Rumors have been swirling that Keoghan’s Joker could play a more prominent role in the sequel, but so far, nothing has been set in stone. Addressing the buzz, the Saltburn actor shared his thoughts on the possibility of reprising the infamous role.

“It’s a big one,” Keoghan admitted in a recent interview. “But I am going to say if the opportunity came about, yes, I would love to explore it. And given that opportunity, I would really dive into it.”

Despite his enthusiasm, Keoghan clarified during an appearance on Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz that there has been no communication about his involvement in the sequel. “I’ve not been contacted; I’ve not heard anything,” he revealed.

While fans eagerly await confirmation, the anticipation continues to grow for The Batman: Part II, which will see the return of Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, along with Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027.

Whether or not Keoghan’s Joker makes a comeback, his chilling introduction has already set the stage for what could be a thrilling continuation of the Gotham saga.
