Brad Pitt recently shared insights into his exciting experience racing in the upcoming Formula 1-inspired movie F1, set to release on June 27. The Troy star attended a fan event in Mexico City this week to promote the film, directed by Joseph Kosinski.
While many expected Brad to drive actual Formula 1 cars, he revealed to Extra that he and co-star Damson Idris instead drove modified Formula 2 vehicles during filming. “No, the speed becomes relative,” said Pitt when asked if he was intimidated by the fast pace.
The 61-year-old actor explained, “It’s more about trusting the brakes. That really grabs your attention.” This insight highlights the intense focus needed even when not behind the wheel of the fastest cars on the grid.
Filming Amid Real F1 Grand Prix Atmosphere
Brad Pitt also described the unique challenge and thrill of shooting scenes during live F1 Grand Prix events. “We had been rehearsing at Silverstone in England for a few weeks, so it felt kind of like home,” he shared.
He went on to describe the overwhelming energy: “When the whole race movement comes in, it’s such a juggernaut of a machine.” With crowds of over 100,000 fans, Brad admitted feeling nervous before hitting the track but soon found the experience exhilarating.
A Fresh Passion Ignited by the Role
Taking on this role brought new energy and passion to Brad’s career. “Doing this after so long and feeling like I’m almost starting over — it’s so full of passion,” he said. “It gave me a feeling I’d never had before.”
Brad also expressed gratitude to director Joseph Kosinski for developing such a unique and captivating concept. The actor’s enthusiasm is clear, making F1 one of the most anticipated sports movies this summer.
