Start your engines — the summer box office is about to get a major adrenaline rush. Brad Pitt is making his high-speed comeback in the pulse-racing new trailer for his upcoming Formula 1-inspired film, F1, set to debut in theaters and IMAX on June 27, 2025.
Hollywood heavyweight Brad Pitt is ready to dominate the racetrack and the big screen in F1, a high-octane sports drama directed by Top Gun: Maverick filmmaker Joseph Kosinski. The newly released full trailer gives fans a deeper look into the film’s story — a comeback tale packed with intensity, drama, and emotional stakes.
Pitt, 61, stars as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula 1 driver pulled back into the spotlight to help revive a fictional racing team known as APXGP. As the trailer opens, Sonny is met with tough love from team principal Kate (played by Kerry Condon), who reminds him, “We all lose our jobs if you can’t pull off a miracle.”
With a dry smile, Sonny replies, “No pressure,” while his longtime friend and team leader Ruben (Javier Bardem) quips, “None.”
A Stellar Cast and Real F1 Action
F1 features a powerful ensemble cast including Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Simone Ashley, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. Damson Idris plays Joshua, a rising F1 star who clashes with Hayes early on. One tense scene shows Joshua warning Sonny: “You’re making a mistake, thinking I’m just gonna be some grateful kid who’ll bend a knee to an old-timer.”
Despite their differences, the two drivers begin to find common ground, with Sonny offering wisdom from the track: “Three laps. Three laps is a lifetime.”
What sets F1 apart from other racing films is its commitment to authenticity. Both Pitt and Idris underwent months of driving training and filmed on actual Formula 1 circuits. The production was guided by seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, who also serves as a producer.
Director Joe Kosinski, known for his visual storytelling and blockbuster thrillers, describes the movie as having “real heart,” highlighting a redemption arc that’s as emotionally compelling as it is action-packed.
Brad Pitt Shares Passion for the Sport
Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Brad Pitt expressed his excitement for the project. “It’s the best time of my life,” the Oscar winner shared. “The vibe is amazing… to get to be part of this world and tell our story this way is just thrilling.”
Alongside the high-speed thrills and team dynamics, F1 promises an immersive cinematic experience that blends real racing footage with movie magic — all coming to life in IMAX on June 27.
