A Tribute from the BTS Community to Its Biggest Supporters

Unlike other BTS projects that highlight the band’s personal and professional milestones, Forever We Are Young focuses on the fans behind the phenomenon. Directed by Grace Lee and Patty Ahn, the film tells the story of a fandom that defied industry norms and built a global movement.

“There is no BTS without ARMY and no ARMY without BTS,” the directors shared in a joint statement. “We’re excited for audiences to go on an emotional journey and meet a fandom that made us laugh, cry, and think.”

The documentary explores fan experiences from ReactorCon in Lewisville, Texas, to BTS choreography instructors in Seoul, celebrating the diversity, creativity, and depth of the ARMY community.

Breaking Stereotypes About Fandom

The official synopsis of the film reads:

“Forever We Are Young dives into the passionate fandom that catapulted 21st-century pop icons BTS into a global household name. Defying stereotypes of pop fans as screaming teen girls, ARMY is an intergenerational, culturally savvy, and socially active movement that is as diverse as the world itself.”

From long-time supporters who have followed BTS since their 2013 debut to new fans drawn in by the band’s authenticity and artistry, Forever We Are Young captures the full emotional spectrum of what it means to be ARMY.

The film made its world premiere at SXSW in Austin earlier this year, receiving glowing early reviews and sparking anticipation for its global theatrical release.
