Global K-pop sensation Jungkook of BTS encountered a distressing situation less than a day after completing his mandatory South Korean military service. What should have been a peaceful and celebratory return home was instead marred by a stalker incident that sparked widespread concern among fans.
Stalker Attempts to Break Into Jungkook’s Apartment
On Wednesday, June 11, just 24 hours after Jungkook’s highly anticipated military discharge, a woman believed to be a Chinese national in her 30s reportedly attempted to break into the singer’s residence. According to police reports, she had traveled to South Korea specifically to witness Jungkook’s return.
Surveillance footage allegedly captured the woman punching random numbers into the security lock of Jungkook’s apartment in an effort to gain unauthorized entry. Thankfully, security intervened, and the woman was arrested for trespassing, as confirmed by BBC.
ARMY Reacts With Outrage
The incident triggered intense backlash from BTS fans, collectively known as ARMY, who took to social media platforms to voice their anger and frustration.
“ISTG!!! I wish the worst for all of BTS’s stalkers!!! I’m glad the police arrested this f**kwit!!!” one enraged fan posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Others emphasized the serious mental health issues behind such extreme behavior, urging for stricter boundaries between fans and celebrities.
“These people need serious mental health intervention. This is why no one should encourage or tolerate ‘fans’ overstepping boundaries.”
“I have no words! He hasn’t even been home for 24 hours and a stalker was already trying to break in! I’m so furious,” another fan added.
Legal Consequences Still Unclear
At this time, it remains uncertain whether the suspect will face formal charges or legal penalties. There has also been no confirmation regarding Jungkook’s presence at home during the attempted intrusion.
Regardless, the situation has cast a somber tone over what was supposed to be a joyful homecoming for the youngest member of BTS. The incident also highlights the ongoing issue of celebrity stalking and the urgent need for stronger protective measures.
