As Cardi B faces an ongoing legal battle concerning a physical assault lawsuit dating back to 2018, the 31-year-old rapper has made a notable request to the judge overseeing the case. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker is urging the court to refrain from discussions about her financial circumstances, including her net worth, throughout the upcoming trial.
In the obtained documents, Cardi B explicitly stated that conversations about her wealth should only be permitted if the court determines that she owes punitive damages. This request aligns with the rapper’s desire to maintain financial privacy amidst the legal proceedings.
Previously, the Grammy-winning artist had also requested to exclude any evidence related to past altercations from being presented to the jury during the trial.
The lawsuit in question revolves around an incident in 2018 where Cardi B was accused of assaulting a female security guard named Emani Ellis. Allegedly, Ellis had requested a photo from Cardi as the rapper was leaving an office in a medical building. The situation escalated, with Cardi reportedly becoming upset and physically attacking Ellis, accompanied by profanities and racial slurs.
Cardi B vehemently denies all allegations of wrongdoing. The trial, anticipated for six years, is scheduled to commence on February 1 in Los Angeles Superior Court. As Cardi seeks financial privacy amid the legal proceedings, the trial is expected to shed light on the events surrounding the assault allegations and the rapper’s subsequent legal defense.
